Copper Conductor

Copper Conductors

LH Marthinusen manufactures copper conductors used in transformers and rotating electrical machines. These conductors are produced to meet the electrical, thermal and mechanical requirements of industrial applications where consistent material quality and insulation performance are essential.

Conductor Manufacturing Capability

Our conductor production facility includes specialised equipment designed to support controlled and efficient manufacturing. This includes a Konform® continuous extruder together with in line annealing systems that assist in maintaining consistent conductor quality.

Four inline continuous covering machines are used to apply multiple insulation layers. Depending on the application requirements, up to 16 insulation layers can be applied per machine.

Testing and Quality Verification

To maintain consistent material performance, conductor production is supported by several testing processes, including:

  • Elongation testing
  • Hardness testing
  • Voltage breakdown testing

These tests help verify conductor quality and insulation integrity before the conductors are used in electrical equipment.

Conductor Types and Sizes

LH Marthinusen manufactures a range of copper conductor products, including:

  • Rectangular conductors from 5 mm² to 150 mm²
  • Round conductors from 3 mm to 16 mm in diameter
  • Paper insulated transformer conductors
  • Nomex insulated transformer conductors
  • Conductors used in high voltage and medium voltage motor coils

Materials and Insulation Options

Our conductors are manufactured from 99.9% oxygen free copper and can incorporate a variety of insulation materials depending on the application.

Available insulation systems include:

  • Thermally upgraded paper for transformer applications
  • Nomex insulation systems
  • Mica conductor bond materials
  • Mica or Mylar insulation combinations

Through controlled manufacturing processes and material selection, LH Marthinusen produces copper conductors designed to support reliable performance in transformers and rotating electrical machines.
