The Technical Training Centre was one of the first independent facilities to train artisans in the field of Electromechanical winding (Armature Winding). It is accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as well as the National Artisan Moderating Body (NAMB) and is approved both as a Trade Test Centre for Armature Winders as well as a Skills Development Provider to the industry as a whole.
The facility comprises a Training Workshop and a Trade Test area and has the capacity to accommodate 20 learners/apprentices at any one time. It currently offers basic theoretical training (N1-N3) which is done in conjunction with the TVET Colleges, basic armature winding practical training and more advanced in-service 3-4 training for the following trades;
The Centre also conducts assessments to determine Artisan Recognition Prior Learning (ARPL) which offer opportunities for skilled/experienced people without qualifications to attempt the relevant trade tests and so become formally trade qualified. Trade Test preparation is also offered to individuals where training may have been completed elsewhere.
